The last actions of Moses: instilling courage in the people before they occupied the land of the Canaanites; instructions to priests about keeping and reading to the people the law written down by them; acceptance with Joshua of divine revelation regarding the future destinies of Israel; compiling an accusatory and edifying song for the people. Deut.31:5. and the Lord will deliver them to you, and you will do to them according to all the commandments that I commanded you; Deut.31:10. And Moses commanded them and said: After seven years, in the year of scapegoation, in the feast of tabernacles, “In the year of redemption,” that is, in the Sabbath year. And the Lord commanded Joshua the son of Nun, and said [to him], “Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the children of Israel into the land about which I swore to them, and I will be with you.” The Lord speaks directly to I. Navin for the first time, since the time for his actual assumption of the position of national leader has already approached. Deut.31:30.
