Considering this spectacle unbearable, he was inflamed with zeal for God and, approaching the sacrificers, began to loudly reproach them. For such courage they took him and gave him the opportunity to appear as the most courageous witness of the truth of all. When the judge who sentenced him to burning pronounced the death sentence on him, he accepted this determination with pleasure, with a cheerful face, with complete readiness, and was taken to execution. At the place of execution, they tied him to a pole, surrounded him with firewood, and when the people who were supposed to light the fire were waiting for the order of the king who was there, he cried out; where is the fire for me? Having said this, the martyr was released by the king from the death appointed for him and sentenced to a new execution of the tongue. Having bravely endured his beheading, he proved with all his deeds that divine power itself relieves those suffering for piety from illness and strengthens their zeal. Having learned about the new execution and not being at all afraid, this hero voluntarily extended his tongue and willingly gave it to be cut off. Having accepted such an execution, he was thrown into prison and, having suffered there for a very long time, finally, on the holiday of the twenty-year reign of the emperor, when, by the power of the so-called all-forgiveness, freedom was proclaimed everywhere and to all prisoners - only one remained in his imprisonment, tied with a rope to a wooden board, on which both his legs were stretched to the fifth degree, and was adorned with the desired martyrdom. Although (at his place of service) he was a foreigner, but having been born in Palestine, he should be numbered among the Palestinian martyrs.
