(1 Cor. 16, 13–24; Matt. 21, 33–42) “Mary chose the good part” (Luke 10:42). The Dormition of the Mother of God represents the good end of this election. The Savior Himself, at her dormition, took her soul into His hands. Many saints were also granted the same; They are also met in different forms and degrees by all voters of the good part. At the hour of election, this end is only glimpsed by hope, and to some extent even foreseen; but then labors, struggles and self-compulsion follow one after another and darken the chosen path. The good end of the good part remains the guiding star. This is the same as a luminous light in the distance for a traveler caught in darkness. Hope is a stimulant of energy and a supporter of patience and constancy in what has been begun, and it itself is strong in faith.
