(Rom. 3:28–4:3; Matt. 7:24–8:4) Today's Gospel says that he who hears the words of the Lord and does them is like one who builds a house on a rock, and one who hears and does not do it is like one who builds a house on sand (Matthew 7:24, 26). Memorize this and repeat it often; the truth contained in it is understandable and clearly visible to everyone. And everyone has plenty of their own experiences of this kind at hand. Thoughts, for example, while you are still thinking about something, are unstable and restless; when you put them on paper, they gain strength and immobility; Some enterprise is still wrong and changes in particulars until it is started, and when you put it into action, all additional considerations are over. Likewise, moral rules have not yet been fulfilled, they seem to be foreign, outside of us and fragile, but when you fulfill them, they enter inside, settle in the heart and lay there the basis for character - good or evil. “Take heed therefore how dangerously ye walk” (Eph.5:15)!
