X. Соблазны

“Woe to the world because of temptations, for temptations must come; but woe to that man through whom temptation comes” (Matthew 18:7, Luke 17:1). “Let us no longer judge one another, but rather judge how not to give your brother any chance of stumbling or temptation” (Rom. 14:13). “Woe to the world from temptations,” according to the word of Christ; but greater woe to him through whom the temptation comes. For those who give temptation sin twice: they themselves sin and cause others to sin, they themselves perish and lead others to destruction. There are more temptations than others: 2. Parents to their children, for what children see in their parents is what they themselves learn. 3. Old to young, for the above reason. But other ordinary people also seduce each other and accept temptation from each other. Temptations come in different ways: 1. In a word, when they say rotten, harmful things that lead to the corruption of faith or morals. 2. The case when bad actions lead others to a bad life. Help to avoid temptations 1. Do not look at what people do, no matter what they are; but to listen and heed what the word of God teaches and what is preached in holy churches from the same word of God. 2. Hear and imitate the holy life of our Savior, Who in word and deed taught us how to live, and His saints who followed Him, and, “looking at the end of their lives, imitate their faith” (Heb. 13:7). 3. Turn away hearing and sight from indecent things, for through hearing and sight, as through doors, all evil enters the chamber of the heart, and creates evil lust in us, and stirs up warfare. 4. Stay more at home and in solitude, for solitude can neither give nor accept temptation. 5. Pray often to God and sigh to keep you from temptations: “Turn away my eyes from seeing vanity” (Ps. 119:37), and again: “Teach me, O Lord, in Thy way, and I will walk in Thy truth” (Ps. 85:11).
