In 1910, Vladimir Alekseevich graduated from the academy as the first master's student in the degree of candidate of theology. Vladimir Troitsky’s candidate’s essay (volume of 1306 pages) entitled “The History of the Dogma of the Church” evoked more than positive reviews from reviewers. Professor A.D. Belyaev, who did not make a single negative comment in his review, gives the following description of the work of the young theologian: “At first glance at the huge volume of Vladimir Troitsky’s work and taking into account the short time allocated for its writing, one might think that it is loaded with raw material; however, in reality this is not the case. He writes documentary, and there are a lot of extracts from paternal literature, brief and non-brief, in his work... But these numerous excerpts, like stones in the wall of a building, well fitted and firmly welded with cement, are united and connected by thought; and therefore the entire work, despite the variety and huge amount of material introduced into it, turns out to be well processed, consistently and harmoniously presented. Reading the work of Vladimir Troitsky, despite its vastness, is not tiring: its content is so varied, so many important issues are touched upon in it and practical thoughts scattered about, and besides, it is presented in an easy, clean, completely literary language. The author of the essay is well prepared for the task of writing scientific works and for literary processing of them. In his writing, talent and hard work mutually support each other. The author of the work is not only worthy of the degree of candidate of theology, but it should be recognized as a work of outstanding scientific and literary merit" 91 . An equally laudatory review of Vladimir Troitsky’s dissertation was written by the rector of the Moscow Academy of Sciences, Bishop Theodore (Pozdeevsky), who, after minor critical comments, concluded his sometimes simply enthusiastic review with the following words: “We repeat that the author has done a tremendous amount of work, let’s say, made a valuable contribution to science and for his work not only deserves the degree of candidate of theology, but also special praise, let’s say more: this work may even be in his present published as a master's thesis" 92. For his candidate's essay, Vladimir Troitsky was awarded the Metropolitan Joseph Prize. On June 10, 1910, the Academy Council decided to leave him for the 1910–1911 academic year at the academy to prepare for teaching 93 .
