In the summer of 1911, the young teacher was working hard to finish his master’s essay, “Essays on the History of the Dogma of the Church.” The author has difficulty coping with the volume of literature used and the flow of new ideas: “I am currently rushing from one book to another. My head was completely spinning. The business may be going well, but so many things declare their existence, but so many questions arise, so many thoughts swarm in your head that you just have to put off finishing your master’s for another year. However, I am sure that even after five years I would not have calmed down completely.”105 By September the work was completed: “I’m only glad that the master’s thesis is finished (it will be rewritten in a week).” In order to expedite the completion of the dissertation, the author had to exclude from it an entire chapter corresponding to the seventh chapter of his candidate’s essay, which examined the teaching about the Church of Saints Cyril of Jerusalem, Basil the Great, Gregory of Nyssa, John Chrysostom, Cyril of Alexandria and Hilary of Pictavia: “... the end of it (the dissertation. - Note. author) was timeless and even violent. I am hiding one chapter, because in the form in which I have it, it is worthless, and to give it any decent appearance, you need to work for a whole month, and I don’t have it. I’ll add it later, although perhaps it will be in the next world” 106. The last statement turned out to be prophetic. Vladimir Troitsky submitted the manuscript of his work to the Academy Council only on March 1, 1912. It should be assumed that the author had to spend another six months preparing the final version of his work. To assess the scientific significance of Vladimir Troitsky’s master’s work, two reviewers were appointed: Honored Ordinary Professor M.D. Muretov was appointed by decision of the Academy Council, and Ordinary Professor S.S.
