All people are divided into three categories: carnal, struggling and perfect. Carnal people are those who are slaves of passions, passions command them. For example, the devil inspires: “Kill so-and-so, he has done you a lot of harm,” and the person does it. People who surrender to the power of passions will perish unless they repent, and if they repent of their sins and begin to fight their passions with their strength, they will be saved. An example is the thief on the cross: he killed, robbed, committed all sorts of atrocities, but when he repented and cried out: Remember me, Lord, when you come into Your Kingdom! (Luke 23:42) - was pardoned. People of the second category are those who struggle with their passions: anger, fornication, malice; they try not to obey them. For example, such a person feels anger towards someone: so, it seems, he would tear his opponent to pieces; but he does not succumb to passion, does not express his irritation, even strives to do some good to the hated - such a person fights passion. And so it is in everything. Those who struggle will be saved. The Lord will not allow such people to perish. I hope we all belong to the second category of people, struggling with our passions. Of course, sometimes passions win, but sometimes we also defeat passions, and this struggle is waged throughout our lives... Finally, perfect people are those who rule over passions. They have passions, but they were able to take power over them. These people are special, and we, sinners, feel good among those struggling with passions, and for this, thank the Lord, we will have hope of salvation. You might be interested in:
