That he who renounces Christ is subject to excommunication; and whoever renounces the clergy, in case of conversion, is accepted as a layman.
If any cleric, out of human fear of a Jew, or a pagan, or a heretic, renounces the name of Christ, let him be excommunicated from the Church, and if he renounces the name of a cleric, let him be deposed. When he repents, let him be accepted as a layman.

Εἴ τις κληρικὸς διὰ φόβον ἀνθρώπινον, Ἰουδαίου ἢ Ἕλληνος ἢ αἱρετικοῦ, ἀρνήσεται, εἰ μὲν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ Χριστοῦ, ἀποβαλλέσθω· εἰ δὲ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ κληρικοῦ, καθαιρείσθω· μετανοήσας δέ, ὡς λαϊκὸς δεχθήτω.
