That a bishop should not mix his personal property with church property.
Let the bishop’s own property (if only he has his own) and the Lord’s property be known exactly, so that at his death the bishop has the power to leave his own property to whomever he wants and how he wants, and so that the bishop’s property is not wasted under the guise of church property, because sometimes a bishop has a wife and children, or relatives, or slaves. For it is righteous before God and people that neither the Church should suffer any damage due to the fact that the bishop’s property is unknown, nor should property be taken away from the bishop or his relatives for the sake of the Church, nor should the bishop’s relatives be involved in litigation, nor would his death be accompanied by dishonor.

Ἔστω φανερὰ τὰ ἴδια τοῦ ἐπισκόπου πράγματα, (εἴ γε καὶ ἴδια ἔχοι) καὶ φανερὰ τὰ Κυριακά· ἵνα ἐξουσίαν ἔχῃ τὰ ἴδια, τελευτῶν ὁ ἐπίσκοπος, οἷς βούλεται καὶ ὡς βούλεται καταλεῖψαι· καὶ μὴ προφάσει τῶν ἐκκλησιαστικῶν πραγμάτων διαπίπτειν τὰ τοῦ ἐπισκόπου, ἐσθ᾿ ὅτε γυναῖκα καὶ παῖδας κεκτημένου, ἢ συγγενεῖς, ἢ οἰκέτας. Δίκαιον γὰρ παρὰ θεῷ καὶ ἀνθρώποις, τὸ μήτε τὴν ἐκκλησίαν ζημίαν τινὰ ὑπομένειν ἀγνοίᾳ τῶν τοῦ ἐπισκόπου πραγμάτων, μήτε τὸν ἐπίσκοπον, ἢ τοὺς αὐτοῦ συγγενεῖς, προφάσει τῆς ἐκκλησίας, δημεύεσθαι, ἢ καὶ εἰς πράγματα ἐμπίπτειν τοὺς αὐτῷ διαφέροντας, καὶ τὸν αὐτοῦ θάνατον δυσφημίαις περιβάλλεσθαι.
