Maramureș Day will open its events at the Rohia Monastery in Maramureș, where the second edition of the International Festival of Traditional Identity will take place on August 15.

According to a post on the event's Facebook page, the choice of location for the start of the event has a special significance, in the context of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the monastic settlement.

At the same time, the Rohia Monastery is one of the most important spiritual landmarks of Maramureș.

The organizers emphasized that the festivity aims to celebrate the cultural values of the area in a "place where wood has become heritage, faith has become continuity and tradition has remained a way of life".

Artistic program The event will bring together delegations and ensembles from eight countries: Romania, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Albania and India.

I liked that they chose the Rohia Monastery for the opening, especially when they celebrate 100 years since its foundation. It is a place where wood has become a heritage and faith has remained alive, as the organizers say. It will be interesting to see the Albanian ensemble together with those from Georgia and Kazakhstan - I hope they bring something from our provincial traditions.

It's a good thing they chose the Rohia monastery for the opening, especially since they are celebrating 100 years since its foundation. There, the tree really became an inheritance, and the faith - a continuation, as they say. I'm curious how the Albanian ensemble will look next to those from Georgia and Kazakhstan.

I agree Teodora, it is the 100th anniversary that makes Rohia's choice even more relevant. I wonder if they will also include some local Marmara songs in the program, so that everything is not left only to the international ensembles. The Albanians will surely bring something completely different from the Georgians, hopefully they will fit in well.

I like that they are opening right in Rohia for the 100th anniversary. The description about wood, faith and tradition as a way of life is accurate, you can feel the same in our wooden churches. I wonder if they will also play some Maramures songs in the program among the Albanian and Georgian ones.

It's really nice that they are opening a monastery in Rohija for those 100 years. A tree like a patimon and faith like everyday life - this is the truth here in Maramures, I see it even when I pass by similar churches on the bus. It is interesting to me if they will insert one of our Maramureski songs between the Albanian and Georgian songs.

Yes, the choice of Rohia for the 100th anniversary is a hit. It made me think of our little church here in Berat, where the old wood still smells of candles. Do you know if our ensemble will bring dances from South Albania or something from the North?

Yes, the choice of Rohia for the 100th anniversary is deeply meaningful. It reminded me of how the wood in our small church in Berat still smells of burning candles. Do you know, Maria, if our ensemble will bring dances from South Albania or something from the North?
