An exhibition about the history of Orthodoxy in Kalmykia is held in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Appearance of Christ the Savior in Elistatranslated

September 9, 2026 at the National Museum. N.N. Palmov in Elista opened the exhibition “Orthodoxy in the Kalmyk steppe. Nomadic Orthodox Church."
The exhibition, prepared by the National Museum and the Kalmyk and Elista Diocese, is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Appearance of Christ the Savior in Elista, the organizers told Thomas magazine.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by Archbishop Justinian of Elista and Kalmykia, Chief Federal Inspector for the Republic of Kalmykia Alexander Belyaev, Director of the National Museum. N.N. Palmova Irina Muchaeva, as well as representatives of the clergy, cultural and scientific society.
As Irina Muchaeva noted at the opening ceremony, this is a long-awaited project, the idea of which has been discussed for the last few years.
