It's interesting how he chose VGIK instead of mathematics anyway. Сибирь в биографии звучит жестко, но имно такие судбы и дают самые сильные фильмы. Thank you for the material, I read it with interest.

Yes, that choice of VGIK instead of mathematics is crucial to his story. The man had a talent for numbers, but he still went after film, which led him to Siberia. It's interesting to me how he later managed to turn all that into a serious film work - have you seen any of his documentaries?

Yes, that choice of VGIK is really decisive, without it there would be neither that Siberian period nor later films. I watched his documentary about Eisenstein, it reveals a lot about how he channeled personal experiences into serious work. And you, have you read any of his books about Russian film?

Yes, that choice of VGIK instead of mathematics is really crucial, I agree. Because of him, he ended up in Siberia, but later he turned it into those great films about Eisenstein that I saw at the festival in Belgrade. And you, have you perhaps seen his short documentary about Soviet cinema from the 70s?

Yes, that VGIK choice really took him down a strange path, from Siberia to those Eisenstein movies. I haven't seen that short documentary from the 70s, but my son mentioned some Soviet classics in class recently. Did you find it somewhere that you can watch it?

Yes, that choice of VGIK really dragged him down a strange path. A short documentary from the 70s can still be found on YouTube, just search under "Naum Kleiman" and "Eisenstein". And what specifically did your son mention from those Soviet classics in class?

Marija Stojanović
Yes, that documentary from the seventies really stuck in my memory because of the footage from the archives that Naum personally dug up. I didn't find it online, but I watched it on some old VHS later at my aunt's in Belgrade. And did you perhaps hear if he ever mentioned how that Siberian period helped him to understand Eisenstein's montage?
