On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Orthodox believers celebrate several church events. On this day, the memory of the martyrs Adrian and Natalia is honored, as well as the Vladimir Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos and the Pskov-Pechersk Icon of the Mother of God “Tenderness”. In the folk calendar, the date was named Natalya Ovsyanitsa and Adrian and Natalia Day.

The celebration of the Presentation of the Vladimir Icon is associated with the events of 1395. When Tamerlane's troops approached Moscow, the image was transferred from Vladimir to the capital, and on Kuchkovo Field the residents prayed for salvation. According to legend, Tamerlane saw a radiant Wife who commanded him to leave these lands, after which he deployed his troops. Considered one of the main shrines, the Vladimir Icon, according to legend, was painted by the Evangelist Luke.

The Pskov-Pechersk Icon “Tenderness” is also venerated on September 8. Its copy from the Vladimir Icon was created by Hieromonk Arseny (Khitrosh) around 1521, and the merchants Vasily and Theodore delivered the image to the monastery under Abbot Cornelius. The icon is associated with numerous healings, especially of the blind, and the salvation of Pskov during the siege by the troops of Stefan Batory in 1581.…
