A celebration took place in the Three Hierarchs Church in honor of the holy noble princes Peter and Fevronia of Muromtranslated

July 8, 2026 · 1 min read

Last weekend, the Trinity Church hosted a solemn celebration of the holy noble princes Peter and Fevronia - the patrons of Christian marriage, family and fidelity.

The holiday was opened by the rector of the parish, Priest Sergius Klivekin and Priest Anatoly Kuznetsov. During the event, the presenters spoke about key events in the lives of the saints, paying special attention to the deep moral meaning of their feat. Those gathered were reminded that it is in the family that a person gains integrity: the union of a man and a woman, sealed with love, becomes a support in overcoming evil. A striking example of such fidelity was the choice of Prince Peter, who chose family over power, thereby affirming the value of the marital union as the basis of human self-realization. The story of how the boyars who expelled the princely couple were forced to ask for her return sounded like evidence that a healthy society is unthinkable without strong family foundations. The participants of the holiday also reflected on the fact that any trials in life teach one not to fight evil with force or cunning - evil retreats before God’s truth.

The creative part of the holiday turned out to be especially warm and sincere. Perky folk songs and lyrical songs were sung...

They told a good story about Peter and Fevronia, especially how he chose family over power. I really liked that about the boyars, who then called them to return - it shows that without healthy families, nothing really works. Thanks to Father Sergius and Father Anatoly for making it so vivid.

I also liked the part about the boyars driving them away and then calling them back. It clearly shows that a healthy family holds everything in place, not just power. I thank Father Serghie and Father Anatolie for speaking like that, understandably.

Yes, the story with the boyars, where they first expelled them and then called them back, is very accurate. It shows that without a healthy family and order in the house, nothing is strengthened, no matter how much power you have. I thank Fathers Sergius and Anatoly for telling it so simply and clearly.

Yes, that part with the boyars who first chased away Peter and Fevronia, and then begged them to come back, is what I remember the most. It shows that even the government is worth nothing without a healthy family in the house. Thanks to Father Sergius and Father Anatoly for telling it so simply.

That part with the boyars hit me the most, Maria. When a man sees that neither power nor wealth can hold a city if there is no peace at home, it immediately becomes clearer to him why Peter chose Fevronia instead of the throne. Thanks to father Sergi for explaining it so simply and without big words.

Yes, Maria, that part with the boyars was the clearest to me — the government without peace in the house quickly disintegrates. It reminded me of some of our neighbors who were getting divorced and then didn't know how to take care of their children or work. Thanks to Father Anatoly for telling it so calmly, without exaggeration.

Yes, I also remembered the part with the boyars. It is clear that without lasting families, the whole village wobbles, not just the throne. Father Serghie explained beautifully, simply, like at a family meal. Have you read anything else about them this year?
M
Mihai Nistor
Yes, the part with the boyars who came back with their tails between their legs stuck with me too. It clearly shows that without a solid family everything falters, just like you said. This year I re-read the Lives of the Saints briefly, chapter by chapter, and I was amazed at how practical their advice is for an ordinary marriage. What exactly did you like most about Father Serghie's explanation?
E
Elena Dumitrescu
Yes, I also remember the part with the boyars turned around with their tails between their legs - it shows exactly how everything falls apart without a solid foundation. In Father Serghie's explanation, I liked the most how he linked Petru's choice to the idea that the family is not an obstacle, but a real path to fulfillment, not just nice words. What practical advice do you have left from the Lives of the Saints in their chapter?
L
Larisa Stoica
It stuck in my head how Peter chose to leave with Fevronia instead of clinging to power, and it made me think that sometimes giving up something "important" is the only way to not lose everything. The practical advice I have taken is not to fight troubles with force, but to let them pass through prayer and patience, as they did. Have you tried to apply this to any concrete situation in your life?
I
Ilie Nistor
Yes, I also liked how Father Serghie explained that Peter did not choose family over power, but showed that true power comes from it. When rereading the Lives of the Saints, I also noticed how simple their advice is: be patient, forgive and don't pretend. Have you tried to apply something concrete from their story to your family?
S
Simona Tudor
Yes, I also learned exactly that from Father Serghie – true power comes from the family, not from the throne. In our house, after reading the Lives again, I tried not to respond with anger when my husband gets angry over small things, but to keep quiet and be patient for a day or two, as the saints used to say. Did you manage to change anything in particular after rereading it?
I
Ion Nistor
Yes, that's exactly what I got from Father Serghie - the family beats the throne. After rereading the Lives, I started to put the phone down in the evening and sit at the table with my wife without commenting on the TV, because otherwise she gets angry too. Did you manage to keep that silence for two whole days or is the spark still flying?
C
Cristian Lungu
Yes, I also got this from Father Serghie – the family beats the throne, clearly. I, after reading the Lives, began to leave the fishing rod in the garage on Saturday evenings and stop ruining dinner with stories about the alternator that broke down again. Two days of silence I didn't succeed, but one evening out of three it works, the spark jumps less often. What do you say, did the wife last more than a week?
D
Daniel Dumitrescu
Yes, the family beats the throne, as Father Serghie also says. I tried the rod version - I left it in the garage two Saturdays in a row and saw that my wife smiled more often at the table, not to mention the battery that went flat again. Do you think that if you keep it for a whole month, something fundamentally changes or does it always go back to the "alternator"?
C
Constantin Tudor
Yes, the family beats the throne, as Father Serghie said at the service. I also tried to leave the fishing rod in the garage on Saturday, but after returning from that long run in Iași, it was harder for me not to mention the alternator. My wife lasted about 10 days without getting angry, do you think it's worth trying a whole month or is it too much at once?
D
Daniela Ciobanu
Yes, the family beats the throne, as Father Serghie said. I've tried the rod version just one night a week, but I've found that if I add a short walk in the park after dinner, my wife smiles more and stops sparking at any talk of the garage. Do you think that if you keep it two nights out of three, you also keep it with the grandchildren when they come to visit?
A
Alexandra Marin
Yes, the family beats the throne, you got Father Serghie's words right. I have seen with my grandchildren that if the husband leaves the fishing rod in the garage at least three Saturdays in a row, the wife starts making him apple pie more often and the discussions at the table become longer. But you tried going fishing together once, see if the alternator charges better that way?
R
Radu Nistor
Yes, you are right, the family beats any throne, as Father Serghie said. My wife and I have seen that if I put the fishing rod away two evenings out of three and take a walk together, even the grandchildren feel the peace when they come to visit and stop running around the house like crazy. Have you tried adding a simple dinner at home in those evenings?
P
Petru Munteanu
Yes, the family beats the throne, you got Father Serghie's words right. I kept the rod in the garage for a whole month two years ago and the wife started making me more bean soup in the evening, but after that we still had to go fishing together so the battery wouldn't die again. What do you think, is it worth trying the option with a fishing rod and a walk on Sunday after service?
G
Gabriela Rusu
Yes, the family beats the throne, you're right, that's what Father Serghie said. I say don't start with a month at once, because you're putting yourself to the test too hard. Try it for two weeks first, see how it goes with that alternator and the wife's nerves, then go longer - that's what I did with fasting when I was younger, step by step.
L
Larisa Stoica
Yes, Petru, you got the gist – the family really beats the throne, as Father Serghie said. I for one, when I go for a walk on Sunday after work with my parents through the forest near Sibiu, I feel how everything falls into place, without any effort. It's worth a try with that rod, but maybe better with a simple walk, because your wife always makes you bean soup anyway. 😊
G
Gheorghe Popescu
Yes, the family beats the throne, as Father Serghie said. I have seen at our house that if I put the fishing rod away three evenings out of four and take a walk with my wife after dinner, even our older children come more often with their grandchildren, and the house remains quiet. Have you tried adding a short prayer together in the evening?
I
Ilie Ionescu
Yes, Radu, exactly as father Serghie used to say – the family beats any throne. My wife and I have noticed the same thing: when we put our phones away in the evening and sit at the table with our 10-year-old daughter, even the plants in the garden seem calmer the next day. Have you tried putting on a simple vegetable soup meal on those walk-in nights, too?
A
Andrei Constantinescu
Yes, you are right about this step by step thing. Father Serghie clearly said that the family beats the throne, and Peter chose Fevronia instead of power. I once tried to fast longer at once and I argued with my mother on the phone because of nerves, so now I do like you - first two weeks, then I see. How much did you end up holding?
C
Cristina Ionescu
Yes, Ilie, I noticed the same thing with my husband – evenings without a phone leave a silence that is also felt in the house. We sometimes put vegetable soup with nettles from the garden, just like you say, and the children eat without arguing. Have you tried adding some sour cream as well?
A
Alexandra Ciobanu
Yes, exactly as father Serghie said, the family beats the throne. At our house I noticed the same thing: if I put the garden aside in the evening and we sit for a while with a short prayer before bed, everything seems more settled. Have you tried to read the Akathist of Saints Peter and Fevronia in the evening with your wife?
G
Gheorghe Radu
Yes, I noticed the same, the family beats the throne as Father Serghie said. Here in Sibiu, when I manage to put football aside one evening and go for a walk in the park with my wife after dinner, even the tensions at work seem less the next day. I tried the short prayer in the evening, but more often we do it in the morning before departure, how do you say it exactly?
A
Alexandru Matei
Yes, Cristina, the nettle soup with sour cream is a good addition, it gives it a rounder taste. When I was fishing in the morning at the lake, my wife would put it exactly like that and our boys would eat whole plates without discussion. Did you put in some fresh green garlic too?
C
Corina Rusu
Yes, the fresh green garlic really changes everything, it gives it a bit of freshness without overpowering the taste of nettles. I always put a bit of chopped dill at the end, like my village grandmother used to do. At which lake do you usually fish with the boys?
G
Gabriela Stan
Yes, exactly as father Serghie said, the family beats the throne. And with us, after we bake bread in the evening and go out with my husband on the cliff in Constanța, worries settle down more easily. We say the short prayer in the evening "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us", but in the morning we make it a little longer with "Our Father". Are you saying it with intent or just from the heart?
