Samara Theological Seminary prayerfully celebrated the beginning of the new academic yeartranslated

On September 1, 2026, celebrations dedicated to the beginning of the new academic year took place at the Samara Theological Seminary. According to tradition, the Day of Knowledge began with the Divine Liturgy, which was led by the vice-rector of the seminary for educational work, Abbot Nikon (Ratnikov). Concelebrating with him was the senior assistant on duty to the vice-rector for educational work, Priest Ilya Ulyanov. The diaconal rank was headed by Protodeacon Alexy Podmaritsyn. The liturgical hymns were performed by the mixed choir of the Samara Theological Seminary under the direction of regent Sofia Avdonina. At the end of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Theodosius of Samara and Novokuybyshevsk performed a prayer service before the start of the school year. Addressing the students, His Eminence congratulated them on the Day of Knowledge and wished them success in the difficult task of learning. The archpastor emphasized that the main result of staying within the walls of the theological school should be the strengthening of faith and the willingness of future shepherds to serve God and His Holy Church with all their hearts.
