Today, July 18, 2026, on the second anniversary of the death of Archpriest Alexander Gudov, clergyman of the Mozhaisk deanery, a memorial service was held in front of a crowd of many believers. The funeral service took place at his resting place, at the Dimitrievsky Church in the village of Bolshoye Tesovo, where Father Alexander also once served as rector.

The memorial service was performed by the clergy of the Mozhaisk deanery, who gathered to share grief and prayerfully honor the memory of their brother and senior pastor. The church and the surrounding area were full of parishioners, the spiritual children of Father Alexander, who arrived to remember their beloved priest.

After the funeral service, those gathered shared a memorial meal. In a warm, but at the same time bright atmosphere, they remembered Archpriest Alexander, shared personal memories of his service, wisdom and kindness, reliving those moments when he touched their lives with his pastoral word and example.

Archpriest Alexander Gudov (1971-2024) was ordained a priest in 1996 and dedicated his life to serving God and people. He worked as rector of the Dimitrievsky Church in the village. Bolshoye Tesovo, St. Nicholas Cathedral in Mozhaisk, and since 2009 - the church...

She remembered how Father Aleksandr served in Bolshoi Tesovo, when we went there for the throne. Dobryj byl batyuška, always found a word. Kingdom of Heaven, we pray.

Помню, как отец Александр в Никольском соборе в Можайске всегда находил время после службы поговорить с каждым. У него действительно был этот дар — простое, но точное слово. Царство ему Небесное, буду поминать.

Yes, he had that same way at St. Dimitry’s too — always took time for the quiet ones standing at the back. I still remember one short talk he gave me after Liturgy that straightened out a real mess I was in. May his memory be eternal.

He really did have a knack for spotting the folks hanging back, didn't he? I remember him doing the same at the Nikolsky Cathedral one Pascha when the crowd was thick. That one quiet word from him could cut through a lot of noise. Memory eternal.

He really noticed the quiet ones, didn't he. I remember him doing the same thing at youth group nights in Можайск when someone would hang back by the door. One quick word from him could change your whole week. Memory eternal.

Yes, he had that gift — I saw it myself at the Dmitrievsky church years ago when he quietly pulled my younger son out of the corner where he was hiding during a feast day. One short word from him and the boy lit up. Memory eternal.

He had that gift, didn't he? I saw it too when he was at St. Nicholas in Можайск — he'd spot the teenager trying to disappear in the back pew and say just enough to make them feel seen. One of those small things that stayed with you. Memory eternal.

He had a real eye for that, you're right. I saw it at the Nikolsky too, but it was during a regular weekday Liturgy when the place was almost empty; he still walked straight over to the one older lady standing way in the back. One sentence from him and she started crying. Memory eternal.

He did have that way about him. I saw it once at the youth group in Можайск when my nephew kept to the edge of the room – one quiet word from Father Alexander and the lad actually stayed for the talk instead of slipping out. Memory eternal.

He had a real knack for that, didn't he? I remember him doing something similar with a couple of the chess club boys at the parish hall in Можайск — just a few calm words and they settled right down instead of bolting. Memory eternal.
