A reading club for the elderly was inaugurated on Wednesday at the "Holy Trinity" Social Center in the courtyard of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Sibiu.

The club "The place where stories come to life" has 800 volumes that can be borrowed by the beneficiaries of the social center.

"We are opening the book club from today and we want to meet, read together, debate the topics we read, so that we keep our minds active and healthy", said Roxana Dinescu, diocesan social advisor.

At the inauguration, the seniors met with psychotherapist Adrian Bratu, who presented them with the benefits of reading in mental health.

"Reading means keeping your mind engaged, gathering new and new experiences all the time, cultivating your memory, attention, critical thinking, so there are extraordinarily many benefits in terms of mental health in this reading process," said psychotherapist Adrian Bratu.
