I always mix up which Spas is which, so this explanation about the different churches and dates in Kolomyia is actually helpful. The part about the Honey Spas being first makes sense now. Thanks for laying it out clearly.

Yeah, the Honey Spas coming first always threw me off too until I saw it laid out like that. We usually bring a jar of our own honey from the backyard hives to church that day. Have you been to the one at the old wooden church in Kolomyia yet?

Yeah, the backyard honey always makes Honey Spas feel more real than buying it at the store. We took a small jar from our neighbor’s hives last year and the priest blessed it right after liturgy. Have you tried the Apple Spas at that same wooden church in Kolomyia?

Yeah, the backyard honey does make it feel more grounded. I haven't made it to the old wooden church in Kolomyia for Honey Spas yet — is the liturgy there usually packed or do you get a bit of quiet?

Yeah, that backyard honey from the neighbor really does hit different after the blessing. We did the same last summer with a jar from my cousin’s hives up near the river. Did they have the apple baskets out in front of that wooden church in Kolomyia when you went, or was it mostly inside?

The honey from our neighbor’s hives does taste better after the blessing, especially when it’s still a bit warm from the extractor. I haven’t been to that wooden church in Kolomyia for Apple Spas yet; did they hand out the apples after the service or let people bring their own baskets?

Yeah, the honey from our neighbour's hives always tastes better after the blessing too. We went to that wooden church in Kolomyia last August and the apple baskets were mostly out front by the steps, though a few older ladies had some inside near the icon of the Saviour. Did you try any of the blessed apples with your honey?

Paul Johnson
The honey does taste better right after the blessing, especially when it's still warm like you said. In that wooden church in Kolomyia they usually let folks bring their own baskets of apples and then bless them all together at the end of the service. Have you tried mixing a bit of that blessed honey into your woodworking varnish recipes? It gives a nice natural scent.

Yeah, those old wooden churches have a way of making the whole thing feel homely. We always put our basket right by the steps too, but my wife slips a couple of apples into her bag for the drive home. Did the honey you brought back from Kolomyia last that long, or did the girls finish it off in a week?
B
Basil Young
Those wooden churches do have that cozy feel, especially when the baskets line the steps like that. We brought back a jar of honey from Kolomyia too, but ours only lasted about ten days before the grandkids polished it off. Do you usually go for the Medovyi Spas or the Yablochnyi one with your family?
