The theological students from Iași started the courses: Let's try to be people of the Scriptures and of the Fatherstranslated

The opening of the new academic year at the "St. Dumitru Stăniloae" Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Iasi took place on Wednesday at the Metropolitan Cathedral. The students were exhorted to be "men of the Scriptures and of the Fathers."
The Holy Liturgy was officiated by the Vicar Bishop Nichifor Botoșaneanul of the Archdiocese of Iasi, together with the Vicar Bishops Damaschin Dorneanul of the Archdiocese of Suceva and Rădăuțil and Teofil Trotusanul of Romanu and Bacău.
Associate Professor Roger Coresciuc, head of the Catechetics-Homiletics department, emphasized the need for thorough theological training.
"I believe that the theologian must be a good connoisseur of the Scriptures and the Holy Fathers. Only by knowing the Scriptures and the Fathers well, we can fully convey to others the mystery of the Church's faith."
At the same time, the father urged the students to understand the world they live in and enter into a dialogue with it.
"I think that the theologian must understand the world in which he lives and not refuse dialogue with it, even if sometimes we have the feeling that we are not keeping up, that we no longer understand the world because of the increasingly rapid changes that are happening in it, I think it is the duty...
