Construction continues in the Golyanovo district of northern Moscow on a church dedicated to the Prophet God’s Elijah.

By the end of 2026, the builders plan to complete laying the internal walls on the second floor and constructing the monolithic dome of the church, reports the press service of Deputy of the State Duma of Russia and Patriarchal Councilor Vladimir Resin.

– This year it is important for us to finish laying the internal walls on the second floor and construct the monolithic dome. This will allow us to move on to the next stage of work. The church in Golyanovo is needed by people, and we will ensure that they receive it on time, – noted Vladimir Resin.

It is specified that the stone church for 500 people is a harmonious one-story asymmetrical building where traditional Byzantine architectural traditions are combined with modern functional solutions.

Under the same roof as the church space, all necessary parish facilities will be located: a refectory, conference hall, and also classrooms and offices for educational work.

“The individual architectural character of the complex will be given by a gable roof with traditional tile endings on the walls and an embedded bell tower in the eastern façade,” – noted in the statement.
