The Sisterhood of Mercy at the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Unexpected Joy” celebrated its 25th anniversary. The festive events began with the Divine Liturgy, during which the sisters of mercy of the united city sisterhood, clergy and parishioners prayed together. The head of the diocesan department for church charity and social service, Priest Pavel Kurbatov, read out the congratulations of Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass. The ruling bishop noted that for a quarter of a century the sisterhood has remained an example of active Christian service, providing assistance to the sick, children in orphanages, people with disabilities and anyone who finds themselves in difficult life situations. After the service, the anniversary continued with a festive tea party. The meeting participants recalled the history of the sisterhood, shared memories and congratulated each other on the memorable date. At the end of the holiday, Priest Pavel Kurbatov presented letters of gratitude and memorable gifts to veterans of the sisterhood, the most active sisters of mercy, as well as those who took part in organizing the diocesan Family Week “7Yafest”.
