Romfilatelia dedicates an anniversary show to the first university botanical garden in Romania, established in Iasi 170 years ago.

The philatelic series was put into circulation on Monday and is made in collaboration with the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University from Iasi and the Romanian Post.

The issue brings together four stamps, a lace slip and a "prima zi" envelope, highlighting through images some of the representative species for the collections of the "Anastasie Fătu" Botanical Garden in the municipality.

Four representative plant species The stamp with the nominal value of 3.50 lei shows the Rosa "Double Delight" rose, one of the ornamental hybrids cultivated in the Rosarium section, noted for its large and fragrant flowers.

The Japanese anemone, a species acclimatized in the Biological and Phytogeographical sections of the garden, is illustrated on the 6 lei postage stamp.

The stamp with the value of 11 lei depicts a species of passion flower originating from the tropical regions of America, cultivated in the Greenhouse Complex of the Botanical Garden in Iași.

It’s interesting that they chose the steppe buoyor on the most expensive stamp for 16 lei. Here in Samara you also rarely see it in nature, and here also in philately. A good idea to celebrate 170 years of such an old university garden.
