Romanian Orthodox students gather in Bucharest for national meeting

The National Meeting of the Romanian Orthodox Christian Students’ Association (ASCOR) opened on Friday in Bucharest, bringing together representatives from branches in university centers across Romania.

The gathering began at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Patriarch Justinian” of the University of Bucharest, with a Te Deum service celebrated at St. Catherine Church, the university chapel.

Fr. Prof. Nicușor Beldiman conveyed the blessing of Patriarch Daniel of Romania to the participants and described the meeting as an opportunity to assess previous activities and plan new initiatives.

He highlighted the connection between worship and service to others, noting that ASCOR’s activities demonstrate the relationship “between Liturgy and philanthropy, between prayer and Christian action.”

Fr. Vasile Gavrilă, spiritual adviser to ASCOR Bucharest, encouraged the students to view the national gathering as an opportunity for renewal, mutual inspiration and strengthening their missionary work.
