The Most Reverend Father Varlaam Ploieșteanul, Patriarchal Vicar Bishop, met on Tuesday with the Ambassador of Albania to Romania, Enkeleda Mërkuri, at the Palace of the Patriarchate. During the meeting, possibilities for academic and spiritual collaboration between the Romanian and Albanian Orthodox Churches were discussed.
The patriarchal vicar bishop recalled Romania's important contribution to the affirmation of the Church and the Albanian state, emphasizing that this heritage can form the basis of new joint projects.
"Taking into account the importance of the Romanian people and the Romanian Orthodox Church in the acquisition of Albania's independence and the organization of the new Albanian state and its church, they want this intensification of ties, which manifests itself especially in the academic field."
