"For the Romanian people, the Brâncoveanu family is one of the most beautiful pages of history", said Saturday evening Vicar Bishop Timotei Prahoveanul of the Archdiocese of Bucharest at the "St. Gheorghe" Church - Nou in the Capital.

His Eminence officiated the Vigil service in honor of the Holy Martyrs Brâncoveni and the Holy Lady Maria Brâncoveanu, whose local proclamation of canonization will take place on Sunday.

The hierarch noted that the Brâncoveanu Family "is not sufficiently known, not sufficiently evoked and above all not sufficiently followed by the generations that came after them until our time and that will continue to come until the end of history".

The vicar bishop of the Archdiocese of Bucharest said that it will be difficult for their importance for the Romanian nation to be equaled at some point.

"It can't even be about something like that, just at least a certain attempt to follow the brilliant deeds of this family and from the point of view of Christian living, of an orthodoxy and an assumed faith."
