The Conference of Orthodox Bishops of Canada (CCOB) has delegated the Most Reverend Father Ioan Casian, the Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada, to represent this entity as an observer at the Plenary Assembly of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Canada, which takes place from September 21-25, 2026.

Father Bishop Ioan Casian participated on Tuesday, September 22, in the proceedings of the second day of the Plenary Assembly, where ideas were proposed on how the Churches can respond to the challenges of the contemporary world through dialogue, mutual listening, responsibility and collaboration.

The experiences presented from different areas of the American continent - South and Central America and Canada - highlighted the importance of synodality, dialogue, sharing each other's experience and preserving the diversity of Christian traditions, as well as the need for an active and responsible presence of the Churches in society at the level of faith teaching, bioethics, family and life, inter-Christian and inter-religious dialogue.

A special emphasis was placed on relations between Christian communities and on the development of forms of cooperation in areas of common interest.
