Archpriest Oleg Kostroma was awarded the title “Gomel Resident of the Year”translated

On the eve of the 884th City Day, on September 9, 2026, a solemn ceremony for conferring the honorary title “Gomel Resident of the Year” was held at the Gomel City Executive Committee.
Certificates were presented to 12 city residents who contributed to the development of Gomel in various fields by the Chairman of the Gomel City Executive Committee, Ruslan Viktorovich Parkhomovich. Addressing the awardees, he thanked them for their work and contribution to the future of their native land, noting the importance of teamwork for the development of the city.
In the “Spiritual Heritage” nomination, the honorary title was awarded to Archpriest Oleg Kostroma, rector of the parish of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Gomel and chairman of the Information Department of the Gomel Diocese.
The title was recognition of the many years of pastoral service of Archpriest Oleg Kostroma, his work in the field of spiritual and moral education of children and youth, as well as participation in the public and educational life of Gomel. The priest develops parish educational projects, is engaged in information activities of the Gomel diocese and takes an active part in the implementation of socially significant initiatives.
