Are these martyrs from the ancient monastery of Melishevo? I heard about them once in a story about the monks who were killed by the Turks, but I did not know the details of today’s celebration.

Yes, exactly those from the Mileševa monastery. The Turks killed them in the 1600s because they did not want to reveal where the relics of Saint Sava were hidden. Here in Niš, they are mentioned at the evening service every year on July 19, so I was there this year as well.

Yes, even those from the Mileševo monastery. I remembered the story of the relics of Saint Sava that they did not want to give to the Turks. In our parish, they are remembered at vespers in July, but we did not know that such a big service was held. Thank you for writing.
