On August 19 according to the new style (August 6 according to the old) the Holy Orthodox Church celebrates the Transfiguration Day. This holiday is established in memory of the Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ before the disciples on Mount Tabor. History of the holiday: liturgical texts in honor of the Transfiguration were created by saints. The Transfiguration of the Lord was honored by Christians already in the 4th century.
