A first in higher education in Romania: A university course will be established to teach educational chesstranslated

A new university discipline, entitled "Educational chess teaching didactics", will be introduced from the fall of this year at the West University of Timișoara, in partnership with the Romanian Chess Federation, informs Agerpres.

The announcement was made on Monday, at the headquarters of the National Sports Agency, by representatives of the Romanian Chess Federation and the West University of Timișoara.

The president of the Romanian Chess Federation, Vlad Ardeleanu, explained that the new discipline marks a change of strategy in the training of teaching staff: "If until now the Federation was training teachers who had already graduated from the university environment, through this new chapter we propose that the training of future teachers be done directly during the faculty".

"Thus, after graduation, the new teachers will be able to enter the system directly, requesting the optional class or the chess chair in the institutions where they will choose to teach," he added.
