Pupils of the Novosibirsk gymnasium in the name of St. Sergius of Radonezh visited the laboratory of environmental education of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Akademgorodok. Long-term cooperation with the scientific center allows schoolchildren to get acquainted with the nature of their native land and the work of scientists.

During a visit to the young naturalist’s station, the children saw in practice what it means to adapt animals to their environment. The high school students got acquainted with the work of the station and saw how man and nature are connected, according to the metropolitan’s public page on the VKontakte social network.

Biological scientist, one of the authors of the Red Book of the Novosibirsk Region, Anatoly Zosimovich Afinogenov, gave schoolchildren a tour of the exhibition of flora and fauna of the region. The children listened carefully to the specialist’s story and asked questions about animals and plants. In addition, Fyodor Leonidovich Abrashitov, an employee of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics, told second-graders about the peculiarities of animal life in the wild. The guys were able to take a closer look at some of the pets and feed them.
