It is interesting that the author takes only one side of the coin and almost does not mention how the Church in those same years condemned the pogroms and the Black Hundreds. In Yaroslavl at the beginning of the century, Bishop Tikhon (the future patriarch) spoke out against violence against foreigners, this is clearly visible in his sermons. But here everything was reduced to “convergence” - as if there were no other voices in the Church.

Irina, thank you for reminding me about Tikhon. In Yaroslavl, in his sermons he actually called for peace and against pogroms, this is a fact. But I’m curious, how do you think these voices in the Church influenced the overall picture then - did they change something noticeably or remained in the minority?
