A temporary church was built for the Orthodox community in Burunditranslated

In September 2026, in the city of Bujumbura in the African state of Burundi, a temporary church was erected for the local community of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.

With the support of donors, the necessary amount was collected, which was used to equip the church, reports the website of the Patriarchal Exarchate.

It is noted that initially it was planned to purchase only a tent for worship, but the funds were enough to erect a small building.

The clergy and religious communities expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for their support.

In addition to the construction of a temporary church, on the occasion of the beginning of the school year, the Patriarchal Exarchate provided humanitarian assistance to students in the parishes and communities of Burundi.

Schoolchildren received support from the parish of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Rumonga, in the communities of the cities of Bujumbura, Ngozi, Magara, Vyanda, Gitega and Muyinga and the commune of Burambi.
