Pemptousia TV in the cell of Agios Nektariostranslated

September 3, 2026 · 1 min read

Today, September 3, our Church honors the Repatriation of the Holy Relics of Agios Nektarios, Bishop of Pentapolis. In the On Demand content of Pemptousia TV, you can watch Maria Yachnaki's show "Signs and People" where in the cell of Agios Nektarios the old woman Timothei, abbess of the Holy Monastery of the Holy Trinity, talks about the time when Agios Nektarios arrived in Aegina and began the creation of the brotherhood, tracing a path full of trials, until the end of his life.

I remember watching that episode last year. The way Gerontissa Timothei described Saint Nectarios arriving in Aegina with almost nothing and slowly building the sisterhood really stuck with me. It's a good reminder that the hard years often come right before the fruit appears.

The part where Gerontissa Timothei talks about Saint Nectarios showing up in Aegina with basically nothing really hit me too. Makes the whole struggle feel a lot more real when you hear it from inside his actual cell. Thanks for posting the link, I’ll watch it again tonight after my route.

That part about him arriving with almost nothing always gets me too. My dad used to say the same thing about starting his first trucking run with just a beat-up rig and a thermos of coffee. Did she mention anything about how the first nuns handled those early years in the cell? I'll have to watch it after I finish my garden chores tonight.

That detail about him starting with next to nothing always sticks with me too. I remember hiking up to the monastery a few years back and standing in that same tiny cell; it’s smaller than my son’s bedroom. Did the video mention what he used for an altar when he first arrived?
