Patriarch Daniel: Queen Maria of Romania – an ambassador of the Romanian people in America and Canadatranslated

Blessed Father Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, delivered a message on Tuesday at the event at the Cotroceni National Museum dedicated to the launch of the "REGINA" tribute volume. The volume was produced by Romania Student Tour on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the visit of Her Majesty Queen Maria of Romania to the United States of America and Canada.

In the message, the Patriarch of Romania recalls the meeting of the queen with the Orthodox Romanians in America: "The meeting with the queen filled the people with enthusiasm. Historical records and correspondence of the time record the desire of the faithful to be as close as possible to Queen Maria, who was received with warmth and hospitality, reflecting the Romanian spirit of showing love for God, respect for the monarchy and the desire for unity and communion of Romanians from outside the borders".

"For these Romanians, Queen Maria was not just a monarch, but the very physical embodiment of Great Romania and of the fulfilled dream of national unity. Her presence in the Romanian church further encouraged Romanians' efforts to preserve our language and culture in the diaspora," emphasizes His Beatitude.
