His Beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel preached on Saturday, on the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, at the historical Chapel "Saint Great Martyr Gheorghe" in the Patriarchal Residence.

His Beatitude presented the history of the celebration and the main spiritual teachings about the Assumption of the Mother of God.

"The first action that the Mother of God began, after receiving the news from the Archangel Gabriel that she would move to heaven with her Son, was the prayer of thanksgiving for this earthly life and the prayer of receiving his soul in heaven."

The Feast of the Assumption of the Mother of God and her Ascension to Heaven illuminates the mystery of the Church and the Christian end of human life "In birth you guarded the Virginity, in Dormition you did not leave the world, Mother of God; you moved to Life, being the Mother of Life and with your prayers, you save our souls from death".
