Patriarch Kirill called Vladimirskaya land the heart of Russiatranslated

Vladimirskaya land is the heart of Russia, and making Vladimir the new capital of Rus after the fall of Kiev was a correct decision, Patriarch Kirill said.

– Vladimirskaya land is the heart of Russia, its second historical capital after Kiev. Indeed, Kiev fell, and it was necessary to save the country. Choosing Vladimir as the new capital was the right move, – said the First Hierarch on September 27, 2026, during a meeting in Suzdal with Vladimir Oblast Governor Alexander Avdeev and Metropolitan of Vladimir and Suzdal Nikanor, reports the website "Patriarchia.ru".

The Church's Supreme Hierarch expressed joy that today Vladimir is "a thriving city with a Orthodox population."

– It is wonderful that cultural, historical, architectural monuments are preserved, as well as magnificent churches. The most important for me as Patriarch is that people preserve their Orthodox faith. As long as this continues, we will not lose our identity, – emphasized His Holiness.

Patriarch Kirill also noted that Vladimir "in some sense is a very important pillar, a place of affirmation of our spiritual and cultural identity."
