Patriarch of Jerusalem and Cardinal Pizzaballa inaugurate new clinic in Gaza

June 23, 2026 · 1 min read

Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, are conducting a pastoral visit to Gaza, accompanied by Dr. Josef D. Blotz, Grand Hospitaller of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and representatives of Malteser International.

As part of their visit, the two Church leaders attended the inauguration of the Saint Joseph Clinic on Monday, June 22. The facility, operated by the Order of Malta, has been staffed with approximately 30 healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, and is expected to provide primary healthcare services to up to 100 patients daily.

The clinic was established through a partnership between the Order of Malta and the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, with its activities coordinated by Malteser International, the humanitarian relief agency of the Order of Malta.
