July 10, 2026 · 1 min read

On July 4–5, 2026, the pilgrimage service of the Penza diocese organized a trip to the holy relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov in the village of Diveevo, Nizhny Novgorod region. During the pilgrimage, pilgrims took part in prayerful services, venerated the relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov, the icon of the Mother of God “Tenderness” and shrines associated with the prayerful feat of St. Seraphim. Believers walked along the Holy Canal of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where […]

Good thing they went right on July 4-5 when it's quiet after the big holidays. I'm very interested in how they went along the Kanavka - tell someone, if you were there, was it cold or sunny?

Good thing they went right after the big holidays, when it's quieter. I was on Kanavka two years ago all summer - it was mild sun, not burning, and the grass smelled nice after the morning rain.

Good thing they went after the big holidays, when the country is quieter. I was in Kanavka once in July, the sun was mild and the grass still wet from the morning rain, just like Ilie says.

Good thing they went after the big holidays, when it's quieter in Diveevo. I haven't reached Kanavka yet, but I remember how a friend from Timișoara told me that the grass was wet and smelled of fresh hay just like in Ilie. Maybe next time we from the parish will make such a trip.

It’s good that we went after the big holidays - Diveevo is really quieter then. I myself walked along the Kanavka a couple of times in July, the grass was wet after the morning rain, it smelled fresh, and the sun was not hot. Who was from Penza, how was the service at the relics?

It's good that we went on July 4-5, when it was quiet in Diveevo. I also went to Kanavke in July a couple of years ago — the grass was wet after the morning rain and smelled fresh, the sun didn't burn. It's interesting, how pensioners speak, the service in the office went smoothly?

And I'm going to dive into it three years ago, and I'm going to work on it. You can find the light in the sun without light.

The result is 4-5 days after more celebrations in the diva действительно спокойнее. When you walk on the canoe in the summer, the grassland comes after the rain What kind of language does it mean?

And in the near future, all I had to do was go to the Kanavke in the same place — after all In Penzensky, what did you see in your mosaic, not slick enough?

Yes, in July there it's really peaceful, without crowds. We also passed Kanavka early in the morning, the grass was even more wet and smelled minty. And as a pensioner, the service in the army went very smoothly, without fuss. Ty v kakom godu byl?

Yes, July is the most pleasant, without crowds. We also went once after the rain, the grass was wetter than I expected and it smelled like fresh earth. And how did the pensioners pass by the relics, did they have time to stay longer at the prayer?
C
Carmen Martínez
Yes, that's exactly why they chose those dates, to avoid the holiday crowd. I also walked Kanavka one July and the smell of wet grass stays in your memory. Did you go alone or with the parish group?
M
Marija Lukić
Yes, the morning is the best, that's when the silence is right. We were in 2023, also in July, and the grass smelled like mint just like you say. Are you also from Penza or were you just there then?
C
Carlos García
Yes, the July dates outside of the big holidays help make it quieter. I went with the group from the Valencia parish, there were about fifteen of us. And did you walk the Kanavka during the day or at dusk? The smell of wet grass that you say is true, it stuck in my mind too.

Yes, I also noticed that in the morning everything is different, as if the whole monastery is still waking up. We were from Banja Luka, not from Penza, but right then, in July 2023, we met a group from Penza near Kanavka. Did you go to the source?
J
Jelena Pavlović
Yes, July is the most beautiful there, that grass with mint remained in my memory. I'm from Kruševac, not from Penza, but I went with the group in 2024. Did you pass Kanavka barefoot or in shoes?
N
Nemanja Savić
Yes, I also went barefoot on Kanavka last year, the grass was very pleasant. That mint is still in my nose when I think about it. Jelena, were you in the cave of Venerable Seraphim or only in the monastery itself?
M
Marta Sánchez
Yes, July outside of the big holidays seems calmer, as you say. I walked the Kanavka at dusk, just when the smell of wet grass gets stronger. And you, in what part of Valencia is your parish?
N
Nikola Todorović
Yes, I also noticed that morning silence when the monastery had not "awakened" yet. We are from Kruševac, but somehow we always found ourselves near Kanavka with various groups. Did you bathe at the spring too or did you just pass by?
M
Marko Kostić
Yes, I also went barefoot, the grass was soft and the mint very strong. Jelena, have you tried the kvass from the monastery bakery after Kanavka? For me, it remained the best part of the whole trip.
