Pilgrimage to the Orthodox shrines of the Kamenets deanerytranslated

Locally venerated shrines are icons, relics or holy places, the veneration of which is officially established within a specific diocese or region, and not the entire church. These are, among other things, icons - Images of the Most Holy Theotokos, which demonstrated miracles in a certain area. Often respect for a shrine begins with popular love, and then receives church recognition. Over time, veneration may extend beyond one region. An example is the many saints who were first venerated at home and then throughout the church.

In Kamenets itself, the historical Simeon Church (built in 1914) and the ancient miraculous icon of the Mother of God “Kamenetskaya” are revered. Brest residents are well aware of both the roads and the locally revered icons - “Rozhkovskaya” and “Bushmichskaya”. Orthodox shrines of the Kamenets region are accessible and often visited by Brest residents.

On August 23 of this year, Brest pilgrims began their pilgrimage to the Orthodox shrines of the Kamenets region with the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Nadezhda, Lyubov and their mother Sophia in the agricultural town of Belovezhsky.   On the western facade of the church, a memorial tablet with the text attracted attention: “This church was built with the blessing and prayers of His Eminence John the Bishop...
