The work of the painter Nicolae Stoica returns to the public's attention after eight decadestranslated

The exhibition "Nicolae Stoica - the last great interwar" was opened on Wednesday at the National Museum of Bucovina and brings back to the public's attention the work of a painter after the establishment of the communist regime.

According to a press release sent by the cultural institution, the exhibition brings together 39 oil paintings and 10 drawings, from museum and private collections. The works are accompanied by a monographic catalog signed by Damian Florea, president of the Jean Louis Calderon Foundation.

Damian Florea helped to document the exhibition, after research carried out over several years in archives, libraries and museums in the country and abroad.

The catalog reconstructs the artistic and human path of Nicolae Stoica, from the affirmation in the interwar period to the years after the war. During the interwar period, Nicolae Stoica participated in the Official Salons, international exhibitions and the Venice Biennale in 1942.

After the establishment of the communist regime, the artist's career was interrupted, and his easel painting remained almost absent from major exhibitions for over eight decades.
