About the educational activities of the Crimean branch of the IOPStranslated

September 7, 2026 · 1 min read

One of the tasks that the Crimean branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society sets for itself is to preserve the testimony and comprehend the spiritual experience of today, when many people are on the front line, rescuing the wounded, delivering humanitarian aid, praying for soldiers and supporting those who find themselves in the combat zone.

Yes, preserving such testimonies is important. Last year in our church choir we packed packages for the helpers in Ukraine and also heard about the prayers of the sisters in Simferopol. How exactly does the Crimean Department collect these stories from the people at the front?

Our parish here in Pittsburgh packed care packages for the front last winter too, and a couple of the letters that came back mentioned nuns in Simferopol praying for the wounded. Christina, does the Crimean branch record these stories through interviews or do people just send in written accounts? I think keeping them straight like that matters.

Yes, it is important to keep these testimonies. In the choir of the church in Bucharest, we also sang for the health of the wounded, and a sister from the monastery in Crimea sent us a short letter about how she prays daily to Saint Seraphim for the soldiers on the front. How exactly does the Crimea section gather these stories, through interviews or direct letters?
