Memorandum of cooperation between the Archdiocese of Athens and the Ministry of Social Cohesiontranslated

In Athens on September 30, 2026, the Most Reverend Theophiletos, Bishop of Christoupolis, Protosygelos of the 1st Archdiocese of Athens as deputy of the Blessed Archbishop of Athens, Mr. Hieronymou II and the Deputy Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Elena Rapti signed a Memorandum of Cooperation according to which the Initiative for the Prevention of Domestic Violence through the Youth and Family Foundation of the 1st Archdiocese of Athens and the General Secretariat for Equality and Human Rights deepen their cooperation so far. With the Memorandum of Cooperation, the two organizations will plan information and awareness actions, educational programs, training of executives on gender issues and violence prevention, as well as interventions in the parishes of the First Archdiocese but in Holy Metropolises that already participate in similar efforts.

Common goals are:

a) the imperative need for primary prevention to eliminate the wrong life attitudes that lead to violence which means cultivating a culture of zero tolerance towards any form of violence against women

b) the support and empowerment of women who have suffered violence
