On the Sunday before the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nea Ionia, Philadelphia, Heraklion and Chalcedon, Mr. Gabriel, officiated at the Orthros Service and then celebrated the High Priestly Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin of N. Ionia, flanked by priests and deacons of the Holy Metropolis. In his sermon, His Holiness referred to the Gospel Reading of the day (Jn. 3, 13-17), underlining the importance of Christ's sacrifice on the cross, as an expression of God's supreme love for man and as a source of salvation for the whole world.
