On September 2, when our Holy Church celebrates the memory of the holy glorious Great Martyr Mamatos the Wonderworker. On Tuesday night, the solemn High Priestly Vespers held in the holy church of Agios Mamandos in Trachoni was officiated by the Theophilus Bishop of Neapolis Mr. Porphyrios.

On the day of the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, the Most Reverend Bishop Amathoustos Mr. Nikolaos presided.

I always enjoy hearing about St. Mamas because my late husband used to keep a small icon of him in his workshop. Nice to see Bishop Porphyrios at the vigil and Bishop Nikolaos serving the Liturgy the next morning. The church in Trachoni must have been packed.

My old mate from the garage in Manchester was called Mamas – named after the saint, he always said. Nice to see both bishops there for the feast, especially with the church full like Photini mentioned. The vigil must have been something.

Here in Belgrade, St. Mamant is celebrated in September, and I also have a small icon that my late husband brought me from the road. It's nice to see both bishops at the service, and the church in Trahoni must have been full, as Photini says. Thanks for the news.

My husband keeps a tiny icon of St. Mamas on his workbench too, right next to the drill bits. It’s good to hear the church was full; ours always is for the vigil but sometimes thins out by morning Liturgy. Did your husband ever tell you why he was especially fond of him?

In my garden I have a small icon of Saint Mamas that my girl brought me from a monastery in Cyprus a few years ago. I like that both bishops served, one at vespers and the other at Mass, and that the church in Trachoni was full. My husband also kept a small one in the workshop next to the garden tools.
