Priestly Assembly in the Episcopate of Choratranslated

On Monday, August 17, with the blessing of the Most Reverend Archbishop of Australia Mr. Makarios, a Priestly Assembly was held at the premises of the Holy Diocese of Chora, in Northcote, Victoria, with the participation of the clergy of the First Diocese. The Synaxis began with a presentation by the Theophilus Bishop of Chora, Mr. Eumenios, who conveyed to the fathers the love and blessings of the Reverend Archbishop Mr. Makarios and wished them a happy birthday for the great feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
In his introduction, His Holiness Theophilastos referred to aspects of contemporary priestly and pastoral ministry, emphasizing that the priest's responsibility is not limited only to those who are regularly in the Church. Special care is needed for the person who is further away, who comes occasionally or who, for whatever reason, has moved away.
"The person who does not come to church every Sunday does not cease to be our pastoral responsibility", he noted characteristically, stressing the need for the clergy to seek ways of approach, to listen and always leave open the way back.
