Piraeus: "We are all called, like the Sanctuary of Spyridon, to become genuine children of the Virgin Mary every day"translated

At the Holy Church of Agios Spyridon, the patron saint of Piraeus, yesterday, Monday, August 10, 2026, during the Mass of Vespers and the Prayer Canon to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Piraeus, Mr. Seraphim, officiated. In the Church, as every year, one of the infinite miracles of Agios Spyridon, that of 1716, was commemorated, in which the Saint miraculously saved Corfu from the raid of the Agarine Turks, who sought the destruction of the island.

During his sermon, His Holiness, noting that Christ came into the world to offer man not just temporal life, but eternal and endless life, underlined that the Most Holy God, as the source of life, entered human history to redeem man from the decay and death that resulted from his separation from God.
