Warm welcome of the Patriarch of Serbia in Nikšić with messages and prayer for peace and unitytranslated

The Patriarch of Serbia, Mr. Porfirios, arrived in Montenegro on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in order to preside over the two-day events to mark the 150th anniversary of the historic Battle of Vuči Do. The Primate of the Church of Serbia and his entourage were welcomed at the airport of Podgorica by the Most Reverend Metropolitans of Montenegro and Parathalasia, Mr. Ioannikios and Vudimlje and Mr. Niksic, Mr. Methodios.

Then the Patriarch Mr. Porphyry departed for Nikšić where upon his arrival he received a warm welcome at the Cathedral of St. Basil of Ostrog. Then there was the Doxology and the Vespers Service. Addressing the Patriarch of Serbia Mr. Porphyrio, Metropolitan Vudimlje and Niksic Mr. Methodios emphasized, among other things, that the faithful people welcome in their person the successor to the throne of Saint Savva. "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!", concluded His Holiness.

Opposing, the Patriarch of Serbia Mr. Porphyry addressed the clergy and the people as "children of Saint Sabbas" and spiritual descendants of Saint Peter of Cetinje and Saint Basil of Ostrog. He also emphasized that he does not feel like a stranger or a visitor...
