Autopsy at the Holy Church of Agios Zacharias Grammos, where the works of the project "Environment beautification, improvement of accessibility and anti-flood protection of the Holy Church of Agios Zacharias Grammos" are in progress, was carried out on Thursday, July 30, 2026 by the Deputy Regional Governor P.E. Dimitris Savvopoulos of Kastoria, in order to ascertain the progress of the works. The Reverend Metropolitan of Kastoria, Mr. Kallinikos, participated in the visit, while officials of the Directorate of Technical Works of P.E. of Kastoria presented the implementation progress of the project, informing about the schedule, the technical issues that are being addressed and the next phases of the work.
The Holy Church of Agios Zacharias, classified as a historic preserved monument, is located in the area of Grammos, at an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters and at a distance of 63 kilometers west of Kastoria. The temple, which dates back to the 16th-17th century, is an important point of religious and cultural reference, while its location makes it particularly vulnerable to intense flooding and increased humidity, which over time burden the monument and the surrounding area.
